Testwood draw in a game of two halfs, But a new star shines!
Testwood played their second friendly of the season against 3rd division new boys St. Peter’s. In a game where manager Neil Tuck was trying out different players for the league game the following week. Testwood had an absolute field day in the first half, with new striker Anton Barnwell playing off the shoulder of the last defender, they gave him space and he did not disappoint.
Testwood totally dominated the first half, after conceeding a scrappy goal, Connell picked out Barnwell and he capitalised on some poor defending to tuck in his second goal in a testwood shirt against the team he was close to signing for in the summer transfer window. Again Barnwell beat the defender from a lovelly pass by McClaren to score his second of the day. Then once more latched onto a pass by McClaren wrong footing the St. Peter’s keeper for his first hat-trick for Testwood. and his 4th in 2 games.
A large reshuffle at half time combined with Testwood taking their foot off the pedal meant that St.Peter’s found themselfs getting back into the game straight after half time. followed by a 35yard screamer by the St.Peter’s striker bringing the game to 3-3. Both teams struggled to get on top and the match fizzled out to finish as a stalemate.
New Testwood striker, Barnwell’s thoughts on the team “Honestly, such a top bunch of guys on the team. Really looking forward to the season!”
