Testwood make a strong start to 2022!

A very wet Saturday morning saw Hope host Testwood on a wet but beautiful pitch, credit to the local groundsmen. Testwood, on the back of 4 straight wins, started slowly and Hope looked the better side, building from the back and creating chances. Testwood finally grew into the game, after their keeper had made some brilliant saves. Testwood realised that if they broke quickly, Hope would leave spaces at the back. After 20 minutes, Testwood took the lead with a neat finish. Both teams were starting to play well but neither adding to the scoreline before the half. The second half promised to be quite the opposite…

Testwood extended their lead with a wonderful through ball, which was calmly finished, 2-0. Hope bounced back and tucked away their first, 2-1. Testwood saw a long range effort deflect in, 3-1. Testwood gave away a penalty, dispatched, 3-2. Testwood, on the counter attack, lobbed the goalkeeper, 4-2. Testwood pressed again, great though ball and a brave finish, 5-2. Hope given a freekick, dispatched, 5-3. Testwood whipped a ball across the box, good control and finish, 6-3. Hope crossed the ball, headed in, 6-4….the referee put his calculator away and blew the final whistle!

A brilliant game and played in great competitive spirits from both sides.
