TBC: 2, CCFC: 1

Saturday football finally returns with a victory for Testwood against CCCFC.

On a cold Saturday morning, after three months out of the game due to lockdown, the boys in blue and black dusted their boots off and put their fitness to the test. The first half saw most of the chances go Testwood’s way with the wind assisting the home side. Some fine goalkeeping from CCCFC kept the scores level for the majority of the half. On 30 minutes, Testwood finally broke the deadlock with a deflected effort, which squeezed past the keeper. Five minutes before half time a counter attack saw CCCFC score a well worked goal ending the half 1-1.

The second half put Testwood’s defence to the test with the wind against them. They remained solid and soaked up a lot of pressure. Half way through the second half Testwood broke and a hopeful ball into the box saw Testwood win a penalty, when the striker and keeper collided. The penalty was neatly dispatched and put Testwood 2-1 up. CCCFC threw men forward but found a resilient defence of Testwood who were happy to continue to play from the back and try to create more chances.

Testwood hung on and secured a vital 3 points. The game was played in good spirits and refereed very well.

Onto next week!
