TBC: 3, Hope Church (Div 2): 1

What a game and result for the Testwood!

On a strangely warm and glorious Saturday morning, Testwood hosted the former div 1 side at the home of football. Hope, who started the season strong are always a well organised, fair and tough team to break down so Testwood knew they had a challenge on their hands.

Testwood started well, passing the ball and looking very comfortable. They created chance after chance but sadly could not find the net. 25 minutes into the first half Testwood got their reward after some effective wing play down the left side, a beautiful cross and a superb header back across the keeper. 1-0 to Testwood and the end of the first half.

Testwood started the second half well again and looked very comfortable on the ball. However, a cheap freekick led to the away side finding themselves level with Testwood. Ten minutes went by with both teams looking for a goal but Testwood went ahead after a wonderful cross field ball, an accurate cross and a well finished volley. 2-1. With minutes left, Hope sent everyone forward, only to be hit on the counter by a well weighted pass and an easy tap in.

By far one of Testwood’s best performances and it was great to see football being played at the back and up top. Well played Hope and we look forward to the return fixture.
